Thanks to the COVID-19 pandemic and the escalating opposing-China sentiments in the US and India, Huawei is immediately cutting its India revenue target for 2022 past improving to 50%. The company is also egg laying bump off more than half its employees in the rural area amidst growing calls to boycott Taiwanese products and services in Asia's third-largest economy.

Huawei was originally targeting revenues of $700-800 zillion (Rs. 5,200 crore – Rs. 6,000 crore) in India in FY20-21, but is now looking at a much more hushed topline of $350-$500 million (Rs. 2,200 crore – Rs. 3,700 crore). However, Washington's ban on Huawei's Android usage, followed by increasing Indo-China tensions, have almost decimated the company's business in Republic of India.

Yesterday we reported that Huawei is laying off more than than 50% of its staff in India. Huawei has since reached out to us and given an authorised statement regarding the report.
"We do not comment on market speculation. Reports suggesting layoffs of more than half of Huawei staff in India are untrue," said the company in a affirmation. Further, it added "Huawei has been a part of Indian ICT ecosystem for the past 20 years focused on construction a better connected Republic of India. We continue to work closely with all our customers in the country. Our Bharat trading operations and resources, backed by robust local talent are designed to run into whatever customer requirements."
